Week of September 25 to 29

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week we talked about who Nazarites were and the most famous Nazarite of all- Samson. We learned that Nazarites were people who separated themselves from others and consecrated themselves to God. We learned about Samson's marriage and his revenge and later we studied the story of Samson and Delilah.  Math:  We have been working on reading word problems and writing equations to solve the given problem. The students will be reviewing and taking the chapter 1 test next week. Writing:  We are just about ready to start the drafting process! I am working on logging into the students' Gmail accounts so that they can start the process. They are very excited.  Grammar:  The students reviewed the three irregular imperfect tenses verbs: "ir," "ver" and "ser." Week of September 18 to 22

What We Learned this Week: Bible : This week we began our study of Israel's judges! We learned about a famous left-handed judge, Ehud, and later we learned about Deborah. We also talked about Jael and how she played an important part in securing a victory for the Israelites.  Math : We have been practicing / refreshing our subtraction including with and without regrouping. We have also been learning how to check our subtraction by doing an addition problem.  Writing : The students have completed their story mountain graphic organizer for their realistic fiction stories. We will begin to draft our stories on the iPads next week. Grammar : We reviewed common Spanish irregular past tense verbs. This can be tricky for the students in their oral and written Spanish output since they are applying internalized general rules to verbs that undergo changes in the past tense.
