4th Grade Spanish Immersion with Maestra Damsteegt

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  We have studied many stories this week! We studied the story of the call of Elisha and saw how ready and willing he was to follow Elijah. We then turned our attention to King Ahab and his disobedience to God- allowing Ben-Hadad (the king of Aram) to survive, orchestrating the murder of Naboth to steal his vineyard, and consulting false prophets in order to ensure his victory over the Arameans. Ultimately, we saw how God's Word always prevails. Elijah's prophecy came true, and the wild dogs licked up King Ahab's blood in the same spot where they had licked Naboth's blood.  The students will be taking the Unit 12 test over Elijah on Wednesday, March 5. What We Learned this Week Bible : This week, we have started our unit on Elijah. We studied his challenge against Baal's prophets on the top of Mount Carmel and how God took care of him while on the run from King Ahab. We learned that God sometimes chooses to talk to us in a quiet whisper. The students will be taking the Unit 12 test over Elijah in the first few days of the month of March. The students will receive their physical copy of the Spanish study guide on Monday, and I will also include it here . What We Learned this Week: Bible:  The students took the test over Unit 11- "The Divided Kingdom." We will be starting our unit on Elijah next week! Math:  We will be finishing up the Unit 4 test when we get back on Tuesday. Afterwards, we will start Unit 5 which is all about the Metric System and the U.S. Customary System of Measurement. Reading:  The students used chronological and descriptive-type graphic organizers to organize information they learned as they read their non-fiction texts. Writing:  We are making great progress with our persuasive essays! We plan on finishing them by next week. Social Studies:  We are studying types of movements of people through-out the history of the United States of America. What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied the history of the different kingdom and how the kings of Judah and Israel differed. We identified the sins and consequences of Israel's king and will be studying "good king Asa." We will learn that he was not always "good." We will be finishing the unit next week, and we will test either on Wednesday or Thursday of next week. The students already have their hard copy of the study guide. Here is the Spanish study guide .
