Week of January 19 to 23
Hi families,
What an interesting week it has been! I hope that you have all been enjoying the snow days and that it has been a wonderful time of fellowship and rest with your families.
I want to provide some clarity on upcoming homework deadlines and expectations for the next few days.
Updated Homework Deadlines
Please note the following due dates for our upcoming homework:
Week of January 12–16: Homework is due this coming Monday, January 26.
Weeks of January 19–23 & January 26–30: The students will receive physical copies for both of these weeks when we return to school. Both weeks of homework will be due on Monday, February 2.
Ongoing Homework Expectations
Even on snow days, students are expected to keep up with their daily practice to keep their skills sharp:
Spanish Reading Logs: Please continue tracking daily reading minutes.
Math Fluency: Please continue practicing math facts throughout the week.
Spelling Update
To ensure everyone has ample time to master the current list, the spelling list for the week of January 26–30 will be the same list as the previous week.
Spelling Test Date: Friday, January 30.
Here is the link for your convenience.
Stay warm, and I look forward to seeing all the students back in the classroom very soon!
Warmly,
Maestra Damsteegt

Upcoming Dates:
February 13 & 16: No School
If you typically pick up your child(ren) via the Peace Lutheran’s parking lot please allow the buses to have the right of way, and give them plenty of space to operate as they have afternoon routes to accomplish safely. Please do not to walk in between buses and stay on the Rose Park sidewalk to the very end (by the standing stone) before you “cross over” to the walkway as you walk together to the church. Thanks!
Running Club! It's time to think about Spring activities again! Rose Park will again have a Rose Park Running Club for 3rd - 5th graders this spring. The program will run from February 17 - May 2. Runners must be signed up to participate, click here!
Kirk Cousins Football Camp: June 24 + 25, 2026: 9am-3pm: Holland Christian High School → Sign Up Here // OUR FOOTBALL CAMP is designed to help young men grow in their understanding of the game while helping them to grow in leadership, faith and integrity. Competition is a great way to develop perseverance and confidence. Through team activities, drills and scrimmages, we help the campers develop their skills and their character. And we make sure they have fun!”– Kirk Cousins
Parent Help Volunteer Opportunity:
I am excited to share that our 4th graders will be leading a special buddy activity with their 2nd-grade buddies (hopefully next week!) To make this event a success for all the students, I am looking for a parent volunteer to help with the following needs:
1. Snowman Template Artist
We are looking for an artistically inclined parent to help us create large snowman outlines on cardstock or poster board. These will serve as templates for the students' project.
Design: Each snowman should consist of three circles (large on the bottom, medium in the middle, and small on top).
Supplies: The school has plenty of cardstock and poster board available, so I can provide all the necessary materials for you to use!
How to Help:
If you are interested in helping out, please send me an email! I would be happy to provide more specific details and answer any questions you might have.
Thank you so much for considering this opportunity to support our students and their younger buddies!
