Week of December 8 to 12

What We Learned this Week:

Bible: The students reviewed for the King Saul test and took the test. Next week, we look forward to starting the King David unit.

Math: We reviewed for the Unit 3 Division Test this week, and the students took the test. Next week, we will start Unit 4 which deals with equations and word problems.

Reading: This week, we used a web chart and an idea / detail chart to describe the topic of our non-fiction books. We provided details about its characteristics; those details included adjectives and other words / phrases that describe.

Writing: The students shared their planning (a table of contents containing chapters) for their literary non-fiction book with a small group. They practiced using a teaching voice as they shared their ideas. We ended the week by focusing on one chapter and developing ways to describe the main idea. The students used boxes and lists in order to do so. We are getting to the drafting stage of our writing.

**I will not be assigning homework for the week of December 15 to 19. This also means that there will be no spelling test during the week. **

Child's Advocacy Center for K-4:

As part of our mission to equip minds and nurture hearts to transform the world for Jesus Christ, HC works to provide students with the knowledge and skills to guard themselves in this fallen world. Part of HC’s commitment to student safety is providing counsel and resources for sexual abuse prevention and intervention from the Children’s Advocacy Center. Please see the attached informed consent letter for more information. The Children’s advocacy center will not be sharing any videos during their lessons at Holland Christian.

If you have any questions about the content of the presentation, we encourage you to reach out to the Children’s Advocacy Center. If you would like your child to not participate in the presentation, please fill out this form at least one week prior to the presentation date. HC will anticipate participation unless they receive a submitted opt-out form.
