Week of May 30 to June 2

Last Week of School! Wow! We made it through the last week of school. I feel incredibly blessed by each and every single one of your children. They have truly made this year an exceptionally good one.  This week, we found ourselves busy with closing out the year. We signed each others' yearbooks, watched a movie with the entire SI community, completed our final barn / greenhouse chores, and attended the last chapel of the year. Two of this week's highlights included our field trip to the Grand Rapids Public Museum. It such such a fun day of learning together. Check out the photos! Thank you so much to the parent chaperones who came with. We appreciate you. The second highlight of the week was the surprise breakfast I put together on Friday morning. I wanted to bless and thank the students for a job well done this year. We fellowshipped over fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, and cookies! Yum Yum! Week of May 22 to 26

What We Learned this Week: Math:  This week, we learned how to compare fractions with unlike denominators.  Writing:  We wrote a class example of a literary essay. Then, the students planned out their own literary essay and started to write their own. MORE Fun Events this Week: Our chapel was a roaring success! All the students had a part to play, and my parents provided awesome support. The whole student body seemed engaged with our Bible Friendly Feud game, the message was impactful, and our time of worship was God-glorifying. Thank you to all who came and worshipped with us. On Wednesday afternoon, the students and I attended field day. We had a fun, sunny afternoon playing games all afternoon. The highlight was definitely being served ice cream by the Holland Police Department. On Friday, the students walked to the park and enjoyed lunch with the rest of the Spanish immersion classes. They played on the playground equipment, and then they had a time of worship.  ...

Week of May 15 to 19

What We Learned this Week: Math:  This week, we have been working on comparing fractions with like and unlike denominators. We have been learning how to use number lines in order to compare them. Reading:  We have been talking about major themes found in the book "Number the Stars" and the instances in the book which demonstrate the themes. Chapel: On Wednesday, May 24, our class will be leading chapel from 10:45 AM until 11:15 AM. You are welcomed to come and join us in worship.  Fun Events this Week: We had an unexpected visit from a group of students from Costa Rica. They performed a typical dance for us, and then everyone broke off into small groups to engage in conversation groups. What a fun time of making international friends! The 4th grade plant sale was a major success! The students were wonderful cashiers and customer service representatives. We managed to raise $963 for the ranch. The money will be used to purchase food for the goats and the chickens. Way to g...
