Week of August 23 to 26

Thank you for a good start to the school year! It's been amazing getting to know your child and to really discover who they are. God took His time creating some awesome kiddos!  At the end of each week, I will be updating the blog with recaps of what we did through-out the week, reminders, and office announcements.  Homework There will be no homework for the week of August 29 to September 1. What We Learned This Week We learned classroom procedures this week. A classroom fit for learning runs smoothly due to engrained procedures. We will continue to work on procedures and routines next week too. We also did a few activities that allowed us to work on our collaboration skills. We as Christians are called to live in shalom with our neighbor; we too must live well and work well with our classmates in the classroom. Halfway Through the First Week of School Update!

 Quick Reminder Good evening, parents! We are halfway through the first week of school! How exciting! I am sending out a quick blurb to remind parents about sending a snack for the kiddos in their lunchboxes. We had a few instances in which some of the students didn't have a snack for snack time. Thanks! "All About Me" Bag Activity For Friday In order to conclude our first week of school, I would love for the students to get a bag or box (paper lunch bag, shoe box, etc.) and put three items in there that describes them. The idea is that they will be sharing their bag / box with the class on Friday. It is not necessary to decorate the box like the one below. However, if your student feels inclined to do so, I just might have some Class Dojo points to reward them with... First Week of School Photos!

Greetings parents and students! The blog is finally here! I appreciate your gracious patience. Thank you so much for the lovely evening at the ice cream social. It was wonderful meeting the students and having the opportunity to speak with the parents.  About Me Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Hannah Damsteegt, and I am your child's 4th grade Spanish immersion teacher at Rose Park. I am originally from Martin, Michigan but moved to Grand Rapids in 2013. Since then, I had the opportunity to live in Arequipa, Peru for half a year in addition to living in Merida, Mexico for a month. I also have done extensive independent travels to other countries: Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. I graduated from Calvin University in 2015 with a degree in Secondary K-12 Spanish Education with a minor in ESL.
