What We Learned this Week
Bible: This week, we started our study on David. We talked about how he became king and how the Ark of the Covenant arrived to Jerusalem.
Math: The students learned how to multiply a two-digit number by a two-digit number. Please encourage the students to keep up with their multiplication fluency in addition to practicing multiplying two digit numbers by two digit numbers.
Reading: This week, we talked about exploring the actions that characters in our books complete in addition to the items that they hold close to their hearts. By doing so, we are better able to understand the characters better while we read.
Writing: The students completed their realistic fiction stories this week! We celebrated with the other 4th grade sections by fellowshipping over food while they shared their stories with the other students. What a fun time! Congratulations, 4th graders!
Science: The students worked to complete a poster to visually represent their conclusions in regards to how our brain and senses work together in conjunction to feel, see, and taste. They are wonderful scientists.
So Many Fun Events!
We attended many fun events this week! On Wednesday, we went to Hope College and watched a dance interpretation of the book "Last Stop on Market Street." Many different schools were in attendance, and the students very much enjoyed seeing the book come to life and listening to the author Matt de la Peña give a presentation about himself and the secrets of his book.
On Thursday, we attended the Hootenanny ceremony which officially welcomed our new resident goats- Rosie and Parker- into our family. We thank God that we were entrusted to take care of these two little goats.
From the Spanish Immersion Team
Dear families,
We are looking ahead to Thanksgiving, and we are planning a special time for all our immersion students to gather together again at Wendt Park and celebrate with empanadas (a typical hispanic sweet bread) and hot chocolate. We have a local bakery that is willing to accommodate our large order and make them fresh for us. Would you be willing to send in $2 per student to help us cover the cost of this by Wednesday, November 16 at the latest? We are excited to share this cultural food with our students as we reflect on the meaning of this United States celebration. At this time, we can only plan on empanadas for students. However, we welcome you to join us on the 18th of November as we raise our voices in Thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness during a time of worship in the park! More details to come later.
