Week of January 20 to 24

What We Learned this Week:

Bible: The King Solomon Test has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 30. Here are the links to the English and Spanish study guides. The English study guide is for the parents to help guide their students, and the hard copy of the Spanish study guide will be sent home on Friday (January 24). I am also including links to Blooket games that the students can use to review if they wish. 

Math: The students practiced writing equations needed to solve word problems and identified the kind of equation.

Spelling: Here is the link to next week's spelling list. 

Social Studies: The students are working on a Google Slide Presentation project. They are describing the location of the United States in spatial terms in addition to mentioning the natural and man-made characteristics.

From the Spanish Department:

Lunar New Year Community Celebration- February 7 from 5:00-7:30pm at the Holland Fish and Game club. Come join us as we celebrate the Lunar New Year! All are invited to this family-friendly event. Enjoy cultural activities and food for purchase. (Crafts and games, Performances, Dragon dance, Red envelope give away and Asian food) 




We had a great time at the field trip! We went snowshoeing and this was a first time for many of us-including myself!

Week of August 26 to 29

What We Learned this Week Bible : We are kicking off our Bible class by understanding how Scripture interprets Scripture. We are studying the book of Philippians to do so. We investigated the events that took place during Paul's second missionary journey along with the people he met. Ultimately, we learned that Paul's primary focus was to know Christ even more- which should be our motive as well.  This unit is very short, so the students will be taking a quiz over the material we have learned thus far late next week. However, it is quite possible that the quiz will be pushed to early the following week. The students will be given a hard copy of the study guide, and I am including a digital copy of the study guide here as well. I also like to include links to a gamified version of the study guide. Week of September 16 to 20

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  We have finished up our study on the flawed prophet Samson. We are now studying another story that took place during the time of Israel's judges- the story of Ruth. We have read up on how Ruth and Naomi traveled back to Bethlehem and how Ruth met Boaz.  The students will be taking the Judges and Ruth Test early in the week of September 30 to October 4. I will be providing the students a physical copy of the Spanish study guide on Monday. I am providing an electronic version of the Spanish study guide here . I am also including an English study guide for parent use only. Feel free to use this resource to support your student.  Additionally, I have made a Blooket using the test questions. Week of October 7 to 11

What We Have Learned this Week: Bible:  We have moved on to the Samuel unit. We studied how God called him during the night and the significance of his conversation with God. Later, we learned of how the Israelites angered God and the attack of the Philistines which led to the capture of the ark of the covenant. We also saw Samuel acting on Israel's behalf and asking God to remember the Israelites before another battle against the Philistine army. We will be finishing this unit soon, and we will be testing over this unit on Tuesday, October 15. A paper study guide was sent home with the students on Thursday, October 10.
