Week of November 28 to December 2

What We Learned This Week

Bible: This week we studied Saul's disobedience to God.

Math: We finished chapter 2 this week! The students took the chapter 2 practice test this week and corrected their work. The chapter 2 test is scheduled for Monday, December 5. The students should have brought home their practice test to study this weekend.

Reading: We started a brand-new unit on informational text. We kicked off the unit by identifying informational text features in addition to using those text features in order to determine the main ideas of the text. I encourage the students to read informational text at home for their reading log homework assignments.

Writing: We have officially started our new unit on persuasion. The students have been working really hard to develop and write strong opinions that could be transformed into claims. The students are excited and have many great ideas. I cannot wait to see what they come up with during our future lessons.

Social Studies: We have switched over to social studies class for this partial. We are studying the geography of the United States, and we talked about the natural landforms found in the United States. I have a fun challenge question for the students! Our state of Michigan is a landform. What kind of landform is it?

Grammar: This week, we reviewed the differences between "ser" and "estar" and the circumstances that call for each verb.

Maroons Unified Basketball is looking for partners! Unified Sports is a program offered in partnership with Special Olympics to provide inclusive sport opportunities for students with and without disabilities. Holland Christian and Zeeland Christian partner together to form the Maroons Unified teams. The basketball season runs from the week of January 9 to the week of March 20 with practices one day a week and games in place of practice toward the later weeks. If you would like to sign your child up to play Unified basketball this Winter at either the K-5 or 6-8 level, please fill out this form. Due to the high interest Unified Sports has received, we cannot promise every interested partner will be on the team as we would like to keep the players from each school as balanced as possible.
