What We Learned this Week:
Bible: We were introduced to King Solomon. We read about how God blessed him with wisdom and wealth. We studied Proverbs 2, and the students selected parts that spoke to them and created a poster to creatively express what they understood from the verses.
Math: The students have started to study the metric system. We kicked off the unit of study by taking a look at the metric systems of length, volume, and weight. The students were pleasantly surprised at the simplicity of the system.
Reading: We have been studying deeper meanings found in repetitive objects in books and their symbolism, titles of the books themselves, names of characters, the significance of events in books, and even specific colors authors use in books. The students deeply impressed me. They really used their creativity to stretch and push their thinking as they thought of the deeper meanings.
Writing: The students are doing a great job of working hard on their personal expertise books. We will resume our work after spring break.
From the Spanish Immersion Department:
If you are interested in having your child attend Spanish Immersion camp this summer, please click here to view more information. We do have enough kids to run the camp. The more the MERRIER! Come join us. :)
Even MORE Fun Events this Week:
Even though it was a short week, it was still PACKED with activities. On Tuesday morning, we were blessed by the high school band. We listened to familiar movie theme favorites such as the themes from "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones." We also were introduced to the different instruments that comprised the band and imagined ourselves swimming through a tank full of fish as the band played a piece that portrayed different types of fish via a specific melody.
On Wednesday, we visited Ms. Hossink's class and joined them for a black light party. It was fun engaging with the students. Thanks, Ms. Hosskink, for the invitation!
On Thursday, we transplanted our little pepper plants to their bigger plastic pots. We are hoping that they grow a lot during spring break. Speaking of growing a lot, our vegetables are flourishing. Take a look at the photos. We are so impressed with the plant progress.
NOTE: The students do NOT need to return the glasses, flower necklaces, or glow sticks. Those are gifts from me to them.
I pray that God blesses you all with a safe and FUN spring break wherever you may go. May you rest well and enjoy the company of friends and family. Most importantly, may we take time to reflect on Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross and marvel at His resurrection. He lives!
