Week of August 22 to 25

We made it through the first week of school! It has been an amazing first week, and I am so so grateful for each and every one of your kiddos. We spent our first week of school talking about and reviewing rules and procedures in our classroom and in the school about us. The students even made some SER posters of their own and posted them throughout the school. We also did some fun activities such as celebrating Liam's birthday, conducting a marshmallow and toothpick bridge, sharing our "Todo Sobre Mi" objects, and reflecting on the first week of school. We are getting set up for a very successful school year.

I update the blog every Friday night / sometimes Saturday mornings. I will always send you an email reminder with the blog link when I have updated the blog. No need to guess when it's ready. 😜

I am looking forward to next week when we dive into some content!

HC’s Homecoming Event is coming soon!

Friday, September 15th from 5-6:30 pm

Kickoff is 7:00 pm

Our Homecoming event includes dinner, bounce houses and inflatables.

 

**All preschool and kindergarten families are invited to attend for FREE through the RSVP form.**  RSVP HERE (Accepting RSVPs until September 6th.) 

Families with children in 1st-12th grade can purchase Homecoming tickets through our Athletics link - EVENTLINK - tickets include the meal, activities, and Varsity Football game at 7:00 pm. Take advantage of the Early Bird Ticket pricing $8 per ticket. Price increases to $10 per ticket starting Monday, September 11th.

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied David's desire to build a temple for God. We talked about how God sometimes says "no" as an answer to our desires. Just like David, we cannot allow that to make us feel bitter. God's will and plan is always good and perfect.  Math:  The students finished up their Unit 3 tests this week. We have started Unit 4 which is all about algebra. We started off by simplifying like expressions. I am including some practice exercises. Week of August 26 to 29

What We Learned this Week Bible : We are kicking off our Bible class by understanding how Scripture interprets Scripture. We are studying the book of Philippians to do so. We investigated the events that took place during Paul's second missionary journey along with the people he met. Ultimately, we learned that Paul's primary focus was to know Christ even more- which should be our motive as well.  This unit is very short, so the students will be taking a quiz over the material we have learned thus far late next week. However, it is quite possible that the quiz will be pushed to early the following week. The students will be given a hard copy of the study guide, and I am including a digital copy of the study guide here as well. I also like to include links to a gamified version of the study guide. Week of September 16 to 20

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  We have finished up our study on the flawed prophet Samson. We are now studying another story that took place during the time of Israel's judges- the story of Ruth. We have read up on how Ruth and Naomi traveled back to Bethlehem and how Ruth met Boaz.  The students will be taking the Judges and Ruth Test early in the week of September 30 to October 4. I will be providing the students a physical copy of the Spanish study guide on Monday. I am providing an electronic version of the Spanish study guide here . I am also including an English study guide for parent use only. Feel free to use this resource to support your student.  Additionally, I have made a Blooket using the test questions.
