Week of October 16 to 18

Happy short week! I pray that everyone has an enjoyable and rest-filled EXTENDED weekend. I apologize for not taking many photos this week. 😳

Chapel Announcement

We are pleased to announce that our class will be leading chapel on Thursday, October 26. We are working hard on preparing an amazing chapel. You are welcomed to attend. Chapel starts at 8:30 AM that day.

Think Energy! Announcement

I have sent out via mail the Think Energy! worksheets many of you all have completed with your students during these past two weeks. It's possible that our class will earn some money to spend on things we need in the classroom. I will be keeping you all posted!

What We Learned this Week

Bible: We finished up the Judges and Ruth unit this week! The students took their test, and we look forward to starting our new unit next week.

Math: The students have been introduced to multipying a double digit number by a single digit number. We started off by learning about a box method involving finding the areas of two squares and then adding them up. We ended the week by investigating the traditional method of multiplying. Feel free to encourage your student to practice multiplying a two digit number by a single digit number. Feel free to use this link to a PDF. I tried looking for an answer key that showed the carrying, but I wasn't able to find one. :( 

Writing: The students are still working on their stories. I am enjoying seeing their ideas flourish as they write.

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied David's desire to build a temple for God. We talked about how God sometimes says "no" as an answer to our desires. Just like David, we cannot allow that to make us feel bitter. God's will and plan is always good and perfect.  Math:  The students finished up their Unit 3 tests this week. We have started Unit 4 which is all about algebra. We started off by simplifying like expressions. I am including some practice exercises. Week of August 26 to 29

What We Learned this Week Bible : We are kicking off our Bible class by understanding how Scripture interprets Scripture. We are studying the book of Philippians to do so. We investigated the events that took place during Paul's second missionary journey along with the people he met. Ultimately, we learned that Paul's primary focus was to know Christ even more- which should be our motive as well.  This unit is very short, so the students will be taking a quiz over the material we have learned thus far late next week. However, it is quite possible that the quiz will be pushed to early the following week. The students will be given a hard copy of the study guide, and I am including a digital copy of the study guide here as well. I also like to include links to a gamified version of the study guide. Week of September 16 to 20

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  We have finished up our study on the flawed prophet Samson. We are now studying another story that took place during the time of Israel's judges- the story of Ruth. We have read up on how Ruth and Naomi traveled back to Bethlehem and how Ruth met Boaz.  The students will be taking the Judges and Ruth Test early in the week of September 30 to October 4. I will be providing the students a physical copy of the Spanish study guide on Monday. I am providing an electronic version of the Spanish study guide here . I am also including an English study guide for parent use only. Feel free to use this resource to support your student.  Additionally, I have made a Blooket using the test questions.
