Week of October 9 to 13

What We Learned this Week:

Bible: This week, we began our study on Ruth. We talked about her love for Noemi and God's providence as he orchestrated the love story between Ruth and Boaz.

Math: We have begun multiplication! This week we studied two multiplication properties- the commutative and the associative.

Reading: We studied techniques that good readers can employ when they come across unknown or tricky words. We also talked about how good readers imagine movies in their minds as they read. We concluded the week by examining our attitudes toward reading.

Writing: The students worked to add dialogue, paragraphs, and transitional words to their stories.

Science: We talked about how our senses affect reaction time. We conducted an experiment by catching rulers with our thumbs and forefingers. We then brainstormed ways of things we could do to improve our speed, and then we re-did our experiment employing those ideas.

Grammar: We studied the certain words and phrases that are used to introduce Spanish past tense and imperfect tenses. We also talked about the differences between the Spanish "r" and "rr." (The "rr" is the hard "r" sound that is done by the trilling of the tongue.)

I will NOT be assigning homework and spelling words for the week of October 16 to 18. No spelling test this week. :))
