Week of December 18 to 22

What We Learned this Week:

Bible: We learned about how David continuously spared Saul's life. We talked about if Saul was truly sorry for trying to take David's life, and we concluded that he was not. We also talked about the lessons that David learned from God during the time that he was fleeing from Saul.

Math: This week, the students learned the digit by digit method of division. It might be a wise idea for them to practice a bit of their division facts over the break.

Reading: The students practiced finding main ideas in sections of their non-fiction books and considering what it teaches them. I highly encourage the students to read for fun over the break. I am going to challenge myself to read at least one book over the break.

Writing: The students are nearing the end of their research investigation for their persuasive essays. Later, they will be learning how to use mirco-stories in their essays.

The Teacher "Rock Paper Scissors" Game

The teachers played a "Rock Paper Scissors" game in which the winner could take the loser's beaded necklace. The teacher who had the most necklaces at the end of the day would be the winner. I really wanted to win, and the students really wanted me to win. But, they were bummed to learn that the winner would be crowned after the students had gone home. They asked me to share the results of the game with them via the blog. So, here we are! I came in 3rd place with 5 necklaces. Mrs. Winningham came in 2nd place with 7 necklaces, and Mrs. Van Faasen came in 1st place with 11 necklaces. I have attached photos of the prizes I won.

January 8 to 12 Spelling List

Lots of Christmas Fun + Christmas Blessing!

What a fun last week before Christmas break! We had lots of fun at the Christmas party on Thursday. Thank you so much to all who helped out! It was greatly appreciated. The kids had fun playing a special Christmas Bingo with Mrs. Rynsburger and Ms. Roskamp at the end of the day today. What a great way to kick off Christmas break.

I hope and pray that this Christmas is one filled with warmth and joy. May many beautiful memories be made with family and friends alike. May we also remember the importance of this season. A baby boy was sent to earth, and He would become the Savior of the world. What a most precious gift. If you are traveling this holiday season, I pray safe travels over you and your family. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2024! We put this year into God's hands.
