Happy Snow Day!
Stay safe and enjoy the January 12 snow day!
Due to the unexpected short week, the blog detailing what we learned this week may appear a bit shorter than usual AND there won't be that many photos. Sorry about that! :)
What We Learned this Week:
Bible: This week, the students read the story of Nabal, David, and Abigail. We learned that a gentle and kind answer can indeed turn away wrath. Please note that due to the snow days, the chapter 7 test will happen during the week of January 22 to 26.
Math: The students worked on long division problems (including word problems) using the long division methods of their choice.
Reading: This week, the students became experts of their non-fiction books as they taught their reading partners all that they have learned thus far from their books.
Grammar: This week, we talked about the differences between the words "qué” and “cuál” and the situations in which they are used. We also studied Spanish words used to formulate questions and the accent marks they carry.
Social Studies: We have switched over from science to social studies! Our first lesson involved us studying ways in which we can describe where the United States of America is located on the globe.
*The spelling test for the week of January 8 to 12 will happen on Tuesday, January 16.*
We have quite a few birthdays this week! Happy Birthday to Blair, Levi, and Annabelle!

Personal Device Reminder
To our best ability at Holland Christian (preschool-12th grade), we are committing to restricting personal devices during the school hours. These devices distract students from learning and impede personal relationships. We ask for your cooperation and partnership in this policy.
Personal Technology: Personal Technology is not necessary in a school setting and disrupts the learning environment. Personal Technology includes, but is not limited to, the following:
If parents need to communicate with their student, they can send their student an email or call the office and get a note from the office. Personal Technology items are not allowed to be used or visible during the time a student enters school until the final bell rings. If a student needs to use their phone, they must receive direct permission from a staff person to do so.
