What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we reviewed the 10 Commandments and talked about the ones that David had broken. We all sin; we all are imperfect. However, God chooses to forgive us if we truly repent of our sins. This is an amazing comfort and blessing. The students will be taking the test over Chapter 8: King David on either Thursday or Friday. Please check your email Saturday morning for the study materials.  Math:  This week, the students have been writing equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to solve word problems. I am doing something a bit different for the students' Mad Minute homework. It's called "Roll and Race," and this will take the place of the Mad Minute homework for the rest of this quarter. Please take a look at the picture below to see how it's played. Reading:  We have finished up our informational text unit and look forward to our new unit. What We Learned this Week: Bible:  In Bible class, we studied David's series of multiple sins against God when he committed adultery with Bathsheba and sent Uriah to his death. Next week, we will study the prophet Nathan's rebuke against King David. Math:  This week, the students worked on solving equations. They also calculated the value of the letter within an expression and solving an expression given the value of a letter. We concluded the week by using the equal sign (=) and the not equal to sign ( ≠) given two equations. They even wrote their own equations using the equal and not equal signs. Reading:  The students learned about strategies for uncovering the meaning of challenging / new vocabulary words. They will be able to use these strategies every day in class as we uncover new Spanish words. The students ended the week by using that new vocabulary to teach others about the non-fiction books they are reading and what they have learned. Writing : T...

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied David's desire to build a temple for God. We talked about how God sometimes says "no" as an answer to our desires. Just like David, we cannot allow that to make us feel bitter. God's will and plan is always good and perfect.  Math:  The students finished up their Unit 3 tests this week. We have started Unit 4 which is all about algebra. We started off by simplifying like expressions. I am including some practice exercises. If your student wishes to practice simplifying like expressions, s/he can complete this page and turn it in. I will provide feedback. Writing:  We are now officially finished with the Persuasive Essays. We look forward to next week when we move on to the Personal Expertise Essay. Social Studies:  The students finished their Geography of the United States Google Slides Project this week. We will be studying movements of people within the United States next week.  February 12 to 23 S...
