Week of March 18 to 22

What We Learned this Week:

Bible: The students took the test over King Solomon. We look forward to next week in which we begin our study on the divided kingdom. We will also spend a few days next week studying Easter.

Math: We are just about finished with Unit 4. We will start Unit 5 next week which is all about measuring (distance, weight, time).

Reading: This week, we studied repeated objects found in our chapter books and their importance / symbolism to the story.

Social Studies: We concluded our government unit right on time! We were able to conclude our unit studying the Bill of Rights, and the next day we found ourselves in Lansing at the state capitol. It was a great trip! From interacting with the force of water to feeling static electricity (ask the kids about the static electricity workshop!) all the way to walking the beautiful halls and rooms of the state capitol building- we REALLY did it all. Thank you, parents, for helping us prepare your kiddos for this trip. I think it's one we will all remember.

Writing: This week, we researched vivid adjectives to use in our essays.

Grammar: In our grammar class, we reviewed the Spanish conditional tense (used to talk about hypothetical situations). The students practiced using the conditional tense by constructing a debate to the following question: Would it be a good idea to chew gum in class?

**I will not be assigning homework for the week of March 25 to 28 (reading log, math log, roll and race math assignment). However, I am assigning a spelling list for the week. The test is scheduled for Thursday, May 28.**
