Week of August 20 to 23
Hola parents!
Welcome to our blog. I will send the link to the updated blog every Friday afternoon / evening-ish via your emails.
In the blog, you will find snapshots of what we have been learning in each of our subjects. You will also find important announcements / updates from the office and even other specials teachers.
This week, we learned the expectations of being in 4th grade Spanish Immersion. The knowledge and understanding of how things are run in the classroom will create for that solid foundation to build learning. I am looking forward to diving into the content next week.
It was so much fun getting to know the students! Oh parents, what an awesome group of kiddos we have. I feel incredibly blessed to be their teacher this year, and I expect marvelous things from them.
Homework will be happening next week. The students will have three assignments to complete. Two math assignments and one reading assignment.
Math:
- weekly math facts log (50 minutes of fluency practice- addition/subtraction, multiplication/division- each week) Our first math chapter is focusing on adding and subtracting large numbers. It might be a good idea to have your child review their addition/subtraction fluency facts. Ideas to review include: flashcards, memory game with flashcards, online math games, writing down fluency tables
- fluency facts worksheet to be completed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Reading:
- weekly reading log (150 minutes of reading in SPANISH)
The students will receive their homework on Monday, and they are expected to turn in their completed homework assignments the following Monday (or the following day if there happens to be no school on that Monday). For example, next week the students will receive their homework assignments on Monday, August 26. However, due to there being no school on September 2, the students will turn in their completed homework assignments on Tuesday, September 3.
Please feel free to read up about homework in the parent handbook. It's also linked near the top portion of the blog.
