Week of September 23 to 27

What We Learned this Week:
Bible: We have finished our study on Ruth. The students will be taking the Judges and Ruth Test on Monday, September 30. They already have their study guides. I am providing an electronic version of the Spanish study guide here, and I am also including an English study guide for parent use only. Feel free to use this resource to support your student.

Additionally, I have made a Blooket using the test questions. I am including the game links here as another study resource for your student.

Tower Defense 2

Monster Brawl

Crazy Kingdom

Math: We have officially completed our first math chapter! We are in the process of taking our first test. We look forward to starting chapter 2 very soon!

Writing: The students took some time to think about the main character of their realistic fiction story. They wrote down the character's external and internal traits. They even wrote down a brief scene from their storying involving the main character.

Science: We have been doing a lot in science class this week! The students worked on their CER reports, and we started to study how our sense of sight is connected to our perception. We learned that one property of light is that it travels in a straight path.

Spelling: Here is next week's spelling list.

We will be doing some hiking and trail walking in addition to learning about Michigan's sand dunes! The students need to pack a sack lunch with them that day. We will be eating our lunches at North Beach Park. Please have your student wear closed toed shoes and long pants.

The students should also pack a snack and drink in a small bag / backpack / pack. That will be their refreshment while we are on the small hike.

Check out the parent letter from Ottawa County Parks here. There are some important instructions there.

If you are interested in chaperoning this field trip, sign up here. Please note that this trip begins at Coast Guard Park and ends at North Beach Park (18775 N Shore Dr, Spring Lake, MI 49456. • There is a space on the HEW to provide your email address for a 10-15 minute survey by the program's evaluator. This information is optional. If you fill it out, you will be will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon gift card! There will be one winner per registered teacher. The winning family will be notified via the adult email address provided on the HEW at the end of the semester.

No kit? If you opted out of taking a kit, you can still benefit from the program. Do the energy audit from the program website at https://thinkenergy.org/semco/audit.
