Week of December 9 to 13
What We Have Learned this Week:
Bible: This week, we learned about King David's dream to build God a temple. God ultimately told David no, but informed David that He would establish His throne through David. In this Christmas season, we see how God's promise has to to fruition. Jesus, David's descendant, was sent to the earth, ministered to us, and took up a sinner's death. He reigns forever and shall return. Hallelujah!
Math: This week, we worked on long division problems that have "0's" in the quotients. We won't let that trick us! We have also been working on using rounding and estimation to check the reasonableness of our quotients.
Reading: We have started our brand-new nonfiction unit. The students can now read Spanish nonfiction books at home to count towards their Reading Log Homework if they would like to. We have been working on identifying nonfiction elements in our texts and using them to help us predict what the sections and entire text will be about. For the next couple of days, we will be working on identifying main ideas and supporting details in our nonfiction texts.
Writing: We are currently working on creating a strong claim statement that will be the basis of our persuasive writing essays.
Spelling: Here is the link to next week's spelling list.
From the Spanish Department:
The Spanish Immersion Christmas program was absolutely amazing. The students worked hard and were so excited to share with you all. Here is the video link recording of the performance.
From the Office:
Carpool reminder: Please remember that when the carpool cars are exiting they have the right of way. In order to keep the carpool lane moving efficiently please do not let the parking lot cars merge into the exiting traffic. If you are in the parking lot please wait patiently once the carpool lane has begun moving. Thank you for your assistance with this, especially as the weather changes!
