Week of May 12 to 16
What We Learned this Week:
Bible: We reviewed and took the Unit 14 chapter test this week. Next week, we will start our Isaiah unit.
Math: This week, the students reviewed and took the Unit 7 chapter test. We are looking forward to starting geometry next week!
Reading: We are continuing to read and discuss "Number the Stars." The students are also continuing on with reading their novels as they met with their book club this week.
Writing: We have been working hard on our personal expertise essays. We have been working on finding a strong quote from a reputable source to back up our knowledge in addition to making sure that our introduction paragraphs hook our attention from the start.
Spelling: There will be NO more weekly spelling lists for the rest of the school year! Yay! However, the students will be taking one final spelling test- the 4th Grade High Frequency Word Test. The test will happen sometime after Memorial Day. I will communicate an exact date(s) later. For now, the students are absolutely welcomed to study and prepare for this test at home on their own time. Here is the 4th Grade High Frequency List.
Homework (Week of May 19 to 23): I will ONLY be assigning the reading log homework and the math log homework.
4th Grade SI Chapel Invitation:
The fourth-grade class and I cordially invite you to join us for our upcoming 4th grade SI chapel service on Monday, May 19th.
Chapel will begin promptly at 10:30 AM and will conclude around 11:00 AM. We are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to worship together with you.
We hope to see you there!
Warmly,
Maestra Damsteegt & Class
Plant Sale Information:
On Thursday, May 22 the 4th graders will be working a "shift" for the plant sale. Please check out this document in order to see when your child is scheduled to work their shift. The document *MIGHT* change a bit, so please check it. If there are any students that would like to work an early shift (7:30 Am to 7:50 AM) OR (7:50 AM to 8:10 AM), please let me know and I can add their name to the schedule.
Additionally, students can bring in a towel / blanket and some sort of folding chair / lawn chair to create their learning space while they are waiting for their shift and after they have finished their shift. The students are expected to follow classroom expectations while at their learning space and work on assignments.
If you happen to have empty cardboard boxes at home and would like to get rid of them, the 4th grade team will gladly take them for the plant sale. Feel free to send it to school with your child!
