🌟 Wrapping Up a Wonderful Year: Our Final Highlights

What a spectacular, memorable final week of fourth grade! We packed our last few days with celebration, reflection, and community. Here is a look at how we closed out our year together:

A Day of Discovery at the Museum: We kicked off our end-of-year festivities with our long-awaited field trip to the Grand Rapids Public Museum! It was such a fun time learning and exploring the exhibits together. The students brought their characteristic curiosity and enthusiasm, making it a truly wonderful day of hands-on discovery outside the classroom walls.

Our Final Day Festivities: We spent our very last day of school celebrating our tight-knit classroom community with some wonderful traditions:

  • A Fancy Breakfast Buffet: We began our morning by sharing a delicious, special breakfast together, enjoying a time of fellowship and reflection on all of our favorite fourth-grade memories.

  • Opening Gifts: The classroom was full of excitement as the students opened their end-of-year gifts.

  • The Gift of Words (Mailbox Activity): In one of our most meaningful moments of the day, the students participated in our mailbox activity. They gifted each other "the gift of words"—exchanging personalized notes of encouragement, appreciation, and kindness. It was incredibly touching to watch them build each other up and celebrate the unique ways each student contributed to our class this year.

☀️ A Summer Blessing for Our Families

As the final bell rings and the school year officially draws to a close, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of you. Thank you for your unwavering partnership, your constant support, and the privilege of teaching your amazing children this year. They have grown so much academically, socially, and spiritually, and I am incredibly proud of each of them.

My Prayer for You: 

“May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

As your families embark on your summer plans, my prayer is that your break is filled with rest, laughter, safety, and wonderful adventures together. Have a fantastic, refreshing summer!

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied the love story of Ruth and Boaz. This story is also a love letter from God to us. He sent Jesus to become our Redeemer- just as Boaz was the kinsman-redeemer to Ruth. The Judges and Ruth test is scheduled for Thursday, October 2. I am including the English study guide here . Week of September 2 to 5

What We Learned this Week: Bible:   We became Egyptian scribes and tried our hand at writing out an Old Testament Bible story in hieroglyphics! We learned that it is hard to do! We also studied how the modern alphabet eventually came to be as picture writing slowly started to change and morph through-out the course of time. There will be a test on this unit during the week of September 8 to 12. It will most likely be on September 11. In order to allow sufficient study time, I am including the link to the digital copy of the Spanish study guide  here . The students have already received their physical copies. Week of September 15 to 19

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we talked about how God used women to orchestrate His plan. We studied the story of Israel's female judge Deborah and how she prophesied that Israel's victory would be guaranteed through a woman named Jael. We concluded our week with our study of Israel's physically strongest judge- Samson. We studied the special vows a Nazarene would make and the temptations that eventually led to Samson's downfall and death. However, we talked about the strength, power, and life there is by inviting God back into our hearts.  Math:  We have finished unit 1. The students have already taken the unit 1 test, and they will correct their tests early next week. *We will be doing multiplication and division in unit 2 of math.
