What We Learned this Week: Bible:  We have finished our study on Ruth. The students will be taking the Judges and Ruth Test on Monday, September 30. They already have their study guides.  I am providing an electronic version of the Spanish study guide  here , and I am also including an  English study guide  for parent use only. Feel free to use this resource to support your student.  Additionally, I have made a Blooket using the test questions. I am including the game links here as another study resource for your student. What We Learned this Week: Bible:  We have finished up our study on the flawed prophet Samson. We are now studying another story that took place during the time of Israel's judges- the story of Ruth. We have read up on how Ruth and Naomi traveled back to Bethlehem and how Ruth met Boaz.  The students will be taking the Judges and Ruth Test early in the week of September 30 to October 4. I will be providing the students a physical copy of the Spanish study guide on Monday. I am providing an electronic version of the Spanish study guide here . What We Learned this Week: Bible : We have started our study on the judges of Israel. This week, we focused on the left-handed prophet Ehud and the prophetess Deborah. We learned about how God used another woman, Jael, to secure Israel's victory over the Canaanites. We are currently studying the flawed prophet Samson.   Math : This week, we reviewed adding large numbers and using estimation to check for the reasonableness of calculations.  Reading : We have started our first reading unit which is all about the importance of forming strong reading habits and how we can form them.  Writing : We started our realistic fiction unit. We kicked off our learning by reading a realistic fiction story and identifying the characteristics of realistic fiction. What We Learned this Week: Bible:  We finished up unit 1! We are looking forward to next week when we start studying the book of Judges. Math:  We learned the place values of numbers up to millions as well as comparing them and rounding to a given place value. Grammar:  We reviewed the Spanish preterite past tense in addition to examples of synonym and antonym pairs.  Science:  The students finished their posters detailing how our celery and food dye experiment worked. We switched gears and starting thinking about our own human bodies, and how they are designed to allow us to grow and survive. We are in the middle of learning how to take our pulse and calculate our beats per minute.
