Week of March 24 to 28
What We Learned this Week: Math: This week, the students learned how to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa. We used that knowledge to learn how to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with like denominators. Finally, we worked on solving word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions and mixed numbers with like denominators. Reading: We studied the symbolism of names of characters and places in our books in addition to investigating the symbolism of the settings of our stories. Writing: The students planned out a chapter of their personal expertise essay and are starting to type it out. Social Studies: We are currently studying the three branches of government, their jobs, and their checks on the other two branches.
