Week of May 27 to 30

What We Learned this Week:

Bible: This week, we studied the message of Isaiah to God's people. Isaiah told the people about the joy and happiness of serving God. Even though punishment was imminent, God was not finished with His people. We also talked about how part of Isaiah's message talks about the coming Messiah- which is what we celebrate at Christmas. Isaiah's prophecies were fulfilled by Jesus.

Math: This week, we learned how to classify triangles based upon their angles (right triangle, obtuse triangle, acute triangle). We also learned how to classify triangles based upon their sides (equilateral, scalene, isosceles). We learned how to add and subtract angle measurements to form a new angle, and we even applied that new knowledge to real world problems. We ended the week by learning how to classify lines as parallel or perpendicular.

Writing: The students worked on their "Faith Writing" project this week. At the end of the year, the school requires the students to reflect upon their faith and submit a written response. This year in 4th grade, their prompt was "Who or what has helped you love Jesus more? How or why?"

Reading: We continue to make progress in our novel study of "Number the Stars."

Grand Rapids Public Museum Field Trip (June 3):

All three sections of the 4th grade class will be heading to the Grand Rapids Public Museum on Tuesday, June 3. The bus will leave promptly at 8:20 AM. Please ensure that your child arrives to school on time that day. We will return to school on time for dismissal.

Please pack a disposable lunch for your child labeled with your child's name for this field trip.

"Fancy Breakfast" (June 4):

Hello parents!

We are approaching the end of the year! Wow, we made it! These kids have worked very hard this year; I am very proud of them. I want to celebrate THEM on the very last day of school. I believe in fellowshipping over food, so I want to bring that love into our classroom.

I want to hold a “fancy” breakfast buffet for our kids on the last day of school, Wednesday morning (June 4). However, I will need some parent help to make this happen!

I have come up with a list of supplies and breakfast items that we will need in order to make this “fancy” breakfast complete.

If you would like to help out in any way, please take a look at the sign-up. If you do sign up for something, please bring the items to school on Wednesday morning. I will be in the classroom by 7:35 AM. I would also be SO grateful if a parent or two would be willing to stay for a few extra minutes to help set the breakfast buffet up. Thank you for considering!

Bendiciones
