Week of August 19 to 22

We officially made it through our first week of school—and what a wonderful week it was! The students did an amazing job settling into our classroom routine and getting to know one another. I'm so proud of how they've already started to build a positive and thriving learning community.

This week, we focused on classroom community and expectations through fun activities and lessons. Next week, we'll begin our curriculum and start applying all the new skills we've learned.


Our Field Trip Sign-Up is Now Live!

The 4th-grade team worked hard to finalize our field trips for the year, and we're so excited for the adventures ahead! The sign-up sheet for parent chaperones is now ready. Please take a moment to look over the schedule and sign up if you're interested.

  • Caring for the Rose Park Ranch: Do you love animals? Do your kids come home talking about loving their days in the barn at school? If you and your family would be interested in caring for our ranch on the weekends would you send an e-mail to Ms. Roskamp at kroskamp@hollandchristian.org. We are going to set up training this Fall to get more families involved in our weekend barn chores!

What We Have Learned this Week: Bible:  We have moved on to the Samuel unit. We studied how God called him during the night and the significance of his conversation with God. Later, we learned of how the Israelites angered God and the attack of the Philistines which led to the capture of the ark of the covenant. We also saw Samuel acting on Israel's behalf and asking God to remember the Israelites before another battle against the Philistine army. We will be finishing this unit soon, and we will be testing over this unit on Tuesday, October 15. A paper study guide was sent home with the students on Thursday, October 10. Week of January 20 to 24

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  T he King Solomon Test has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 30.  Here are the links to the  English  and  Spanish   study guides. The English study guide is for the parents to help guide their students, and the hard copy of the Spanish study guide will be sent home on Friday (January 24). I am also including links to Blooket games that the students can use to review if they wish.  Tower Defense 2 Cafe Monster Brawl Tower of Doom Crazy Kingdom Factory Tower Defense Math:  The students practiced writing equations needed to solve word problems and identified the kind of equation. Week of November 4 to 8

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we have learning about Saul's jealousy of David. We have been talking about how God has been preparing David for becoming king of Israel- successful in battles, popular and loved by the Israelites, filled with God's presence. The students will be taking the chapter test around the 21st. It could be a day or two afterwards. I am sending the Spanish study guides home with the students on Monday, November 11. I am including the English study guide here so you can support your student's studying.  I am also including links to Blooket games the students can use to review at home.
