What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied the message of Isaiah to God's people. Isaiah told the people about the joy and happiness of serving God. Even though punishment was imminent, God was not finished with His people. We also talked about how part of Isaiah's message talks about the coming Messiah- which is what we celebrate at Christmas. Isaiah's prophecies were fulfilled by Jesus.    Math:  This week, we learned how to classify triangles based upon their angles (right triangle, obtuse triangle, acute triangle). We also learned how to classify triangles based upon their sides (equilateral, scalene, isosceles). We learned how to add and subtract angle measurements to form a new angle, and we even applied that new knowledge to real world problems. We ended the week by learning how to classify lines as parallel or perpendicular. Writing:  The students worked on their "Faith Writing" project this week. At the end of the year, the school requires...

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied Isaiah's call as found in Isaiah chapter 6. We connected this to our own lives by looking up verses in Scripture that tell about our own calling. We also studied Judah's sin and God's judgement. We also discussed how God offered HIs people mercy.  Math:  We have started our geometry unit! In order to help support the students' learning of these new concepts at home, I have enrolled our class into Splash Learn. If you wish for your student to continue practicing at home, I have sent home the login information. This week, we learned about lines, points, segments, types of angles, and how to use a protractor to measure and draw angles. Reading:  We continue to make progress in our novel study of "Number the Stars." Writing:  The students have officially finished their personal expertise essays. They should have brought their essays home. Next week, we will shift gears in our writing class and will focus on ...

Spelling:  There will be NO more weekly spelling lists for the rest of the school year! Yay! However, the students will be taking one final spelling test- the 4th Grade High Frequency Word Test. What We Have Learned this Week: Bible:  We studied the minor kings of Israel, and we noticed that most of them "did evil in the eyes of the Lord." We learned about the prophets Joel and Amos and their messages to Israel calling for repentance. Some later kings did indeed follow God, but the arrival of new kings was much like the up and down movement of a teeter-totter. Sometimes, the kings were "high" as they loved and served God. Sometimes, the kings were "low" as they continued to "do evil in the eyes of the Lord."  The Unit 14 test will be on either May 13 or 14- depending on our pace. I am including the English study guide so that the parents can help guide and support their child's studying. Additionally, I am including the Spanish study guide . Students will get their physical copy on Monday, May 5. If your student would like to, they can play these Blooket games in order to help them review for their upcoming test.  Cafe Tower Defense ...
