What We Learned this Week: Bible:   We are beginning our Bible class by studying the history of the how the Bible came to be. We discussed why we should study the Bible and have taken an overview look at the history of writing. We have studied pictographs and cuneiform so far. There will be a test on this unit during the week of September 8 to 12. In order to allow sufficient study time, I am including the link to the digital copy of the Spanish study guide here . The students will receive their physical copies soon. Additionally, I am including the link to the digital copy of the English study guide here . The English study guide is meant for the parents to help guide their student's studying. I am also providing the link to Blooket online games the students can play at home if you choose to let them play. The game questions are very similar to the ones the students will see on the test. We officially made it through our first week of school—and what a wonderful week it was! The students did an amazing job settling into our classroom routine and getting to know one another. I'm so proud of how they've already started to build a positive and thriving learning community. This week, we focused on classroom community and expectations through fun activities and lessons. Next week, we'll begin our curriculum and start applying all the new skills we've learned. Our Field Trip Sign-Up is Now Live! The 4th-grade team worked hard to finalize our field trips for the year, and we're so excited for the adventures ahead! The sign-up sheet for parent chaperones is now ready. Please take a moment to look over the schedule and sign up if you're interested. Here is the link to the sign-up sheet. You can also find it under the "Quick Links" section on the sidebar. What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied the message of Isaiah to God's people. Isaiah told the people about the joy and happiness of serving God. Even though punishment was imminent, God was not finished with His people. We also talked about how part of Isaiah's message talks about the coming Messiah- which is what we celebrate at Christmas. Isaiah's prophecies were fulfilled by Jesus.    Math:  This week, we learned how to classify triangles based upon their angles (right triangle, obtuse triangle, acute triangle). We also learned how to classify triangles based upon their sides (equilateral, scalene, isosceles). We learned how to add and subtract angle measurements to form a new angle, and we even applied that new knowledge to real world problems. We ended the week by learning how to classify lines as parallel or perpendicular. Writing:  The students worked on their "Faith Writing" project this week. At the end of the year, the school requires...

What We Learned this Week: Bible:  This week, we studied Isaiah's call as found in Isaiah chapter 6. We connected this to our own lives by looking up verses in Scripture that tell about our own calling. We also studied Judah's sin and God's judgement. We also discussed how God offered HIs people mercy.  Math:  We have started our geometry unit! In order to help support the students' learning of these new concepts at home, I have enrolled our class into Splash Learn. If you wish for your student to continue practicing at home, I have sent home the login information. This week, we learned about lines, points, segments, types of angles, and how to use a protractor to measure and draw angles. Reading:  We continue to make progress in our novel study of "Number the Stars." Writing:  The students have officially finished their personal expertise essays. They should have brought their essays home. Next week, we will shift gears in our writing class and will focus on ...
